The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, by Haruki Murakami, 100 Years...
Magical realism, as described by Michael Woods, is not a style of writing, just a modest fidelity to the magic of reality in places where we are not. Woods goes on to tell his audience of the allure of magical realism by explaining that reality in foreign places are more enchanting and exciting than probably anything a reader could think of. Woods sets out vague principles of what magical realism rarely resorts to. His list includes: dates, recognizable city streets, historical personages, diaries, gritty descriptions, invitations to look things up in the newspapersâ⬠¦. Late night settings, promises of much strangeness, aghast and/or terrified audience of listeners within the tale. By Woods standards he tells what doesâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Although Nutmeg mentions her job and work through the latter half of the novel it is never clear what she does and how Toru helps her. Why was the well dry? Who was that faceless man? Although the author gives a general idea about the answers to the questions, it is still left unclear of the correct answer and is up for interpretation. Danteââ¬â¢s Inferno also leaves the reader with more questions than answers. In Inferno, symbolism is extremely obvious yet Dante still leaves certain questions unanswered. The story never reveals why those in Hell are only punished for a single sin rather than more than one sin or why he only cares about those suffering in Hell who are from Florence and choses to ignore those some while he talks to others. Dante stays predominantly compliant to Woodsââ¬â¢ list of things that a magically realistic rarely does. Even though Dante makes reference to ââ¬Å"historic personages,â⬠he makes note of them for their reason in Hell from their past. To a reader of present time, the dates (Good Friday to Easter Sunday of the year 1300) seem almost irrelevant and one would find it rather difficult to find a newspaper entry on something from the fourteenth century. A component of In ferno is that while Dante is experiencing and traveling through Hell, he finds none of this out of the ordinary. In fact, he wonders why he was picked to participate in this shamanistic journey. Woods tells, ââ¬Å"Hell is real or imaginary, strange or all too

Question: Discuss about the Pessimistic Experiences in Physical Education and Sports. Answer: The study conducted by Beltrn-Carrillo et al. (2012), aims to investigate and review pessimistic experiences in physical education and sport in a group of inactive adolescent from Spain both male and female. The main objective of this paper is to understand and make the authorities listen to the negativity that these students face and secondly, the author wants to draw a connection in between the inactivity among the students to the negative situation they were. Public health and physical well being is a matter of concern among the authorities worldwide. There are several incidents of physical inactivity among the youth which has risen concerning alarm. This is the reason why physical activity and sport are important to incorporate in the routine of the youngsters. Performative evaluation among the young people has some serious negative setbacks like anxieties, struggles, and disappointments which further leads to pressure and depression. The methodology that was followed while collecting the data for review and survey is as follows: 395 Spanish high school students were chosen as samples for the study in the first quantitative phase and they were said to have been participated in four different types of physical activity during the year. The sample group consisted of students whose age is in between 17 and 18 years. They students belonged to 12 different schools and are located in different cities of the Valencian Autonomy. In the research process the authors found that the students who are usually inactive in the sports and other physically activities remember their teachers and coaches negatively. This is followed by the feeling of getting insufficient opportunities to play, athletes or physically fit individuals getting more attention than the ones who are less active and low skilled. They also felt neglected by their teachers or coaches as they thought they are less talented that the active ones. Inactive people did not like the per formative evaluation on competitive sport or any other physical activities as they felt excluded from the process and they though themselves like leftovers which was a direct cause of the behavior of the rest of the students and the teachers. There are also students who are active but leave a sport due to the behavior or the conduct of the teacher and the coach. In conclusion, the authors state how these insights may be helpful to minutely reflect on physical activity programs, whose effectiveness is quite questionable for all pupils who experience them. And hence, negative experiences in performance evaluation and sport activity promote inactivity. Reference list: Beltrn-Carrillo, V.J., Devs-Devs, J., Peir-Velert, C. and Brown, D.H., 2012. Teaching Students with Down Syndrome
Teaching Students with Down Syndrome Down Syndrome is a chromosomal abnormality and one of the most common genetic conditions. It occurs in approximately one in every 700 to one 1,000 live births. Down syndrome accounts for approximately 5 percent to 6 percent of intellectual disabilities.à Most students with Down syndrome fall into the mild to moderate range of cognitive impairment. Physically, a student with Down syndrome is easily recognizable due to characteristics such as a smaller overall stature, flat facial profile, thick epicanthic folds in the corners of their eyes, protruding tongues, and muscle hypotonia (low muscle tone). Cause of Down Syndrome Down syndrome was first identified as a discrete disorder with a set of similarà symptoms or characteristics, which are related to the presence of extra chromosome 21. Those characteristics include: Short stature and shortened bonesThick tongues and small oral cavitiesModerate to mild intellectual disabilitiesLow or inadequate muscle tone. Best Practices for Teachers There are a number of best practices for working with students with Down syndrome. In teaching, best practices are procedures and strategies that, through research, have been shown to be effective. Those strategies include: Inclusion:à Students with special needs should be full members of age-appropriate inclusive classes to the extent they can be. Effective inclusion means that the teacher must be fully supportive of the model. The inclusive environment is less likely to stigmatize and provides a much more natural environment for the students. There are more opportunities for peer relationships to occur and much of the research states that full integration works better than classrooms that are segregated according to cognitive ability or special needs. Building self-esteem:à The physical characteristics of a student with Down syndrome will often result in a lowered self-esteem, which means the teacher needs to take every opportunity to boost self-confidence and instill pride through a variety of strategies. Progressive learning:à Students with Down syndrome usually face many intellectual challenges. Strategies that work for mildly disabled students and/or students with significant learning disabilities will also work with these students. Most students with Down syndrome do not progress beyond the intellectual capabilities of a normal developing 6-to-8-year-old. However, a teacher should always strive to move the child progressively along the learning continuum- never assume the child isnt capable. Solid intervention and high-quality instruction lead to improved academic achievement for students with Down syndrome. Through a multimodal approach, a teacher uses as many concrete materials and real-world authentic situations as possible. The teacher should use language appropriate for student understanding, speak slowly when necessary, and always break tasks into smaller steps and provide instruction for each step. Students with Down syndrome usually have good short-term memory. Minimize distractions: Students with special needs are often easily distracted. Teachers should employ strategies that work to minimize distractions such as keeping the student away from the window, using a structured environment, keeping the noise level down, and having an orderly classroom where students are free from surprises and know the expectations, routines, and rules. Teachers should use direct instruction in short periods of time along with brief activities to help to support learning, and they should introduce new material slowly, sequentially, and in a step-by-step fashion. Employ speech-and-language instruction:à Children with Down syndrome can suffer from serious problems such as hearing difficulties and articulation problems. Sometimes they will require speech/language intervention and a great deal of direct instruction. In some cases, augmentative or facilitated communication will be a good alternative for communication. Teachers should use patience and model appropriate interactions at all times. Behavior-management techniques: Strategies used for other students should not differ for the student with Down syndrome. Positive reinforcement is a much better strategy than punitive techniques. Reinforcers need to be meaningful. The strategies a teacher uses to reach and teach a student with Down syndrome will often be beneficial to many learners in the classroom. Using the above strategies can be effective with students of all levels of ability.
